Sutan Amrull – better known as Raja – is a make-up artist, a touring queen and the Season 3 winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race. He’s also an amazing illustrator whose work we have the pleasure of witnessing in realtime via the new World of Wonder YouTube series Raja Drawja.

The latest installment features the multi-talented Raja creating the likeness of fellow aesthetic master, Mathu Andersen. In the video, which can be viewed below. The two friends engage in casual convo while Raja sketches, shades and colors what appears to be Mathu in the above look.

In the convo we learn Mathu once had the privelege of performing 5am blowouts on the infamous Anna Wintour bob. According to the story, he lost the gig after over-sleeping due to some late-night draganigans. The blip didn’t appears to derail his career. Perhaps it even did it some good, as he’s now in quite a more interesting space. Peep Mathu’s best-known muse in the gram below.

Andersen recently hosted a gallery showing of self portraits is Los Angeles. An even for which it appears the artist chose the relative comfort of modern male dress. i.e. the “freedom of an unfettered waist.” Freedom, indeed.

Prince is one of those artists: the kind that has a long list of hits, but still manages to surprise us often with an oldie from his sizable catalog that still feels as fresh and fun as the day it was pressed. “When You Were Mine” played in the background of the makeover montage, as Prince gives New Girl lead, , some pointers how to dress and how to open up to love. It was the best part of the segment.

Prince fans who tuned in were kept waiting for the whole episode to get what they came for: THE MUSIC. Unfortunately, it was a short-lived show for the icon, as the episode only had time for a short Prince-Jess duet. In any case, the song, which is reportedly called “Don’t You Wanna Fall in Love” is a fun one that makes you wanna dance.

The CW network is cashing in on the Monarchy-craze with it’s (loosely) historic drama Reign. The show follows the trend laid by predecessors like The Tudors and Game of Thrones to tell royal stories through fictionalized and hyper-sexed accounts of aristocratic politics.

Reign‘s claim to fame is it’s made-for-teens perspective and it’s glorious costumes. The show takes plenty of artistic freedom in it’s dressing of 16th century style. The lead story (and the leading wardrobe) is that of Mary, Queen of Scots. It’s definitely regal clothing, but comprised of very modern styles mixed in with old world frocks. It’s a mix that, when done well, makes the soap seem antique, yet fresh and new at once.

Besides the on trend costumes, the young queen has ladies-in-waiting with names like Greer & Kenna, which are so current with the audience that might also love the likes of The OC or Gossip Girl. The pretty people in pretty clothes parade is scored by the lush tunes of the Lumineers, who’s song “Scotland” is the show’s opening theme. Find out more about music from the show at cwtv.com.

Dark haired Mary is the perpetual bride in white – playing the fiery princess opposite the Dauphin Francis.

Mary’s open-shoulder ensemble has the appropriate decadence of an old world queen, but with a modern silhouette.

The costume design has a 1970s vibe, overall – which makes them both retro and futuristic at once!

In episode 19 of ABC’s country music drama “Nashville” star Rayna James wears a top that has a mash up of several fashion trends. The garment has sheer elements, a sweetheart neckline, a mock turtleneck, and poet blouse sleeves… and we can’t even see the whole thing! It’s look okay in the music superstar context, but for we mere mortals all those trends in one look is generally too much. Here are a few tops that interpret these trends in a more streamlined fashion. There’s something here for glam, romantic, classic, and androgynous style palettes alike!

I really loved the duet Rayna and Deacon sang toward the end of the episode. According to smallscreenscoop.com, the song is called “End of the Day.” It’s not yet a part of the show’s soundtrack, as published on Spotify, but I hope it appears soon! The show is on a roll, turning out some genuinely good music, performed by the actors themselves. Other favorites from this season include “Undermine” – an original performed by Hayden Panetierre; “Ho Hey” – a Lumineers cover performed by the Stella sisters; “Fade Into You” – an original performed by Clare Bowen & Sam Palladio.

Season 6 of AMC’s mega hit TV drama Mad Men premieres April 7, 2013 and fans of the show are frothy in anticipation. The buzz has been helped along by Season 5 of the show finally hitting Netflix on March 25. Right on time for some binge viewing before the premiere!

I first fell in love with the show for the sensational storyline and beautiful costumes. In recent seasons, though, a well-placed soundtrack has developed as a third reason Mad Men is one to watch. So far, trailers and teasers for Season 6 don’t reveal much about what’s going to happen, but they do hit some mood-setting notes with the music. In the promo above the voice of Elle King caught my ear as reminiscent of one of my fave singers, Shingai Shoniwa of the Noisettes.

Mad Men season 5 ended with the perfect song singing leading man Don Draper through the shadows and into a new stage of his marriage. It was just right for a bittersweet moment that you knew would likely lead to more bitter than sweet.

The opening bars of Nancy Sinatra’s “You Only Live Twice” are the kind of heartbreakingly beautiful that prompt a hardcore longing for something – even if it’s no good, and even if it hasn’t gone yet. I don’t watch Bond movies, but songs like this can convince me that I should. Amazing what a good soundtrack can do!

What the frackle was NBC thinking when they approved this bizarre graphic for The Voice?! We might all be used to being fed over-shopped images, but this is just weird. Look at Christina Aguilera’s arm! WTF did they get an intern to do that?

Maybe they needed to save money to pay for the ridiculous staging that occurs during the singing competition. The above image appears on the show’s page at Hulu.com. Meanwhile a similar graphic appears on NBC.com, with Aguilera’s arm edited but still extremely wonky. Bizarre.
